Aliyah | Senior Portraits in Castle Rock, CO

Rock Canyon High School, Castle Pines, CO

You may likely recognize this gorgeous face from the first image on the home page! Aliyah is the sweetest girl and I was so lucky to work with her for her senior portraits. She is graduating this year from Rock Canyon High School. In the fall of 2022, she will head to Fort Worth to attend Texas Christian University.

When Aliyah filled out her senior intake form, the words “natural”, “nature”, “relaxed” and “casual” stood out in more than one of her answers. I’ll say it again, that intake form is so useful in planning a custom senior session! By the time we got on a facetime call for her style and location consult, I already had some great ideas to suggest.

I love shooting in downtown Castle Rock and I have some favorite spots, but for every session I seem to discover new little pockets. We started this session at the ice skating rink, but wandered around and were pretty excited to find this bright graffiti wall. And literally just behind the wall, a gorgeous view of the Castle Rock itself!

The weather was turning on us quickly and our gorgeous blue skies were giving way to gray and possible rain. We talked about rescheduling or heading to our next locations sooner rather than later because we had some protection from the rain in them. She wanted to keep going and I was more than happy to do so! We headed out to a barn I had secured for us earlier and got the cutest images with Aliyah and a super friendly Norwegian Fjord named Frank. In one of the images, I did have to use a bit of photoshop to clone out some nasty horse slobber. You can’t blame Aliyah for backing away from that a bit! Her dress, boots and hat were the perfect look for this setting and the picture on the left below became a gorgeous cover for her album.

By the time we reached our final location, the rain was coming down. We had so much fun with it and this adorable baby blue Ford F-150 became a prop and a shelter. I was standing in the rain with an umbrella to protect my camera and Aliyah stayed mostly dry inside the cab of the truck! Her outfit was the perfect fit for the location once again. I even had an instagram follower message me to ask if I knew where her top and jeans were from because they loved them so much. (American Eagle for anyone else wondering!) This session was so much fun and honestly the rain just provided a fun element to the whole experience and story! Once we were pretty much wrapped up, she jumped out the truck for a few fun shots in the rain.
